Sometimes reading those self-help books CAN help you lose weight. I was reading this one about a whole town that started exercising together, can't remember the name of it but they had it at the library, it was pretty motivating, it gave a lot of tips on how to get your friends involved with your weight-loss goals, stuff on emotional support, etc. Then there's The Carbohydrate Addict's Diet which I started reading a while back...I can pass up chocolate and candy all day long and not bat an eyelash but stick a nice, fat sandwhich or something with tortillas in it or a waffle in front of my face and it's ON!
Other benefits to weight-loss reading material is you can read those kinds of magazines while you're on the treadmill and it kind of reinforces the good that you're doing.
I would also suggest books-on-tape for while you're walking? I wonder if they have those, does anyone know? I should get some if so!!!
