I have planted some lettuce in two large pots. I plan on making a greenhouse type thing by putting heavy clearish plastic around the circumfrance. I used bamboo to make it about 26 in high. I will cover the top with plastic when it's very cold. I did have some luck a coulple years ago using bales of straw to block the wind and plastic as a cover. The problem there was that the local bunnies could nible at their leisure. I hope using a taller planter will keep them out.
Love wilted lettuce.

Our fall garden has been so good this year. Broccoli, cabbage, beets, radishes, lettuce and spinach. The radishes are very mild, and there is nothing better than wilted lettuce! Will hate to see it end.
