I recently watched a gardening show on tv that got me to thinking about plant color combinations. A gardener had displayed charteuse and purple foliage with yellow flowers in a very eye pleasing perennial bed. Are there any plant combos that you use or have seen that strike you as beautiful? What are they and what was the plant material used? What about annuals in planters and pots?

My garden is a crazy quilt of colors too. I tend to go with what strikes my fancy or my pocketbook. There is no cohesiveness though. I think it would be more pleasing to the eye if there was some artist thought put into it.

I try to be artisitc with my annual pots, but there are to many thing that I like to be that particular with my perrinials.

Purple/white/and bright yellow go great together in pots
Coleus - is a pretty green leaf filler ( has several differnt shades)
sweet potatoe vine
allysium for border (smells good to)

If I think of anything else will let you know.

My favorite is the boldest red geranium with white bacoba all around.I
plant this combo in a pot every year. I also put a purple fountain grass
with pink wax begonias all around the edge that worked good.

Oooh, I like the idea of the purple fountain grass and pink wax begonias. I can see that in an urn.
