Was there a White pepper wipe out and I didn't hear?
I used to buy ground white pepper in the restaurant size paks all the time. I can't find ANY white pepper now other than those little bitty mccormick ones.

Not even at the Merc!

What's up with that?

That's strange. It has been a while since I've bought some since we only use it for certain recipes.

You might try one of the Asian grocery stores to see if they have any. I've seen it there before.

I think it is a stronger pepper taste. I do like it better in certain recipes such as chicken & noodles. We use the really fine ground kind.

I use white pepper alot. I like it for scrambling eggs, some gravies and some cooking. It is hotter than black pepper. Sometimes I don't want the black pepper for the appearance, like scrambled eggs, so I substitute.

I like to use it in white sauces. I also LOVE to use a large amount as a coating for fish when I broil. I take a bit of flour and loads of White pepper to dredge the fish in. The white pepper is almost nutty tasting.

I forgot about the gravies! The husband would have my head if I did that! The scrambled egg idea sounds good. I love pepper in my eggs but it does look a bit yucky with the black pepper.
