Post subject:  GRANOLA

My kids love plain granola - getting to expensive to buy (but don't want to tell them no good snack food) so I am looking for a recipe for granola - I remember years ago my grandma made it with oats and honey and I can't remember what else how much and baking it for how long. So need help any ideas? Thanks all

This recipe is really good, its not plain, but I wanted to share it anyways.

Ingredients:

1 1/4 cups Hemp Seed Nut
4 cups rolled oats
3/4 cups shredded coconut
3/4 cups rye flakes
3/4 cup sliced almonds
1/3 cup chopped hazelnuts
1/2 cup shelled sunflower seeds
1/2 cup sesame seeds
1/4 cup flax seed
1/3 cup coconut oil, hemp seed oil or safflower oil
1/2 cup honey
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt

Directions:

Preheat oven to 250 F.

In a large bowl combine the dry ingredients and mix well. In a seperate bowl whisk together the oil, honey, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until blended, then pour over the dry ingredients. Mix thoroughly until everything is evenly coated.

Put the mixture in a roasting pan. Bake 2 1/2 - 3 hours (or until light brown in color and mostly dry) at 250 F, stirring every half hour.
Let cool completely.
