Post subject:  wanted: root beer ice cream recipe

I am trying to find a recipe for Root Beer Ice Cream. My great-aunt Wilma used to make this. It was so good. She died when I was six. I remember my family looking high and low for the recipe, but they could not find it. I guess she took it with her. So if you have one let me know. Thanks kelli

Did she maybe use root beer flavoring in the ice cream instead of actual root beer? I'm trying to think how it would work because I think this would be a tasty summer treat!

I found this which doesn't have any ice cream recipes but maybe you could email the site & see if they know of any recipes for it?

Thanks for the site. I don't know how she made it. I have tried several different recipes for family get togethers and they just aren't the same. The sad thing is no one ever saw her make it.

Post subject:  I can venture a guess

Here is the Ice cream recipe I have had the best success with
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 cups cold whole milk
2 cups cold whipping cream
1/2 cup Egg Beaters® Egg Product

For vanilla I'd add 2 tablespoons of vanilla extract. For root beer, I would add 3 or 4 tsp of sasparilla root extract. I bet it would be good. I have noticed that a lot of different automatic ice cream makers have different results, and there are a lot of variations on the basic ice cream recipe.
