Soft Pretzels
1 pkg. active dry yeast
1 1/3 c warm water
1 Tbls sugar
1/2 tsp salt
3 1/2 -4 cups flour
-------------------------
1 egg
1 Tbsp. water
2 Tbsp. coarse salt
Preheat oven to 425; grease 2 large baking sheets. In a large bowl, sprinkle yeast over warm water. With a wooden spoon, stir in sugar, salt & flour, until soft and slightly stickey. Knead 5-7 minutes adding more flour if necessary. Cut dough in half. Cut each half in to 6 peices, make each into 15 inch ropes and shape into a pretzel, place 3" apart on baking sheets. Mix egg and water brush on pretzels, sprinkle with salt and bake 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
This is a recipe for my daughters home-ec class last year. So you know its going to be an easy one! And very tasty.
