Post subject:  cookie frosting

Who has a great recipe for sugar cookie frosting??? I struggle every time trying to make it the right thickness . I also like the kind that firms up once it is on the cookie. Does that make sense? Making heart shaped one for my daughters class. Thanks!

Mix 1 pound sifted powdered sugar with 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup white Crisco and 2 teaspoons pure vanilla. Gradually add 1/4 cup scant hot water. Frost cookies when cooled.

When in doubt, consult the experts. www.wilton.com
I have gone there often. Scrolling their message boards reveals some very interesting recipes that have been shared by others. I have had VERY good  results with some of the cookie and icing recipes.[/url]

Also, I get icing to flow and then harden by microwaving it a few seconds. It works easiest when the icing is warm enough that you can gently push it around the cookie making your spatula marks dissappear.
