Pronounced ragu like the spaghetti sauce. When we were kids we always pronounced it like its spelled - rag out. My mother actually got this recipe from an Agatha Christie mystery book. Real hearty and delish. The only thing you need to add is a slice of bread and butter!
1 lb bacon - cut into 1in squares
large round steak - cut into 1 in cubes
sliced potatoes
sliced carrots
sliced onions
large can of cream of mushroom soup.
In a large stock pot add 1/2 of each ingredient starting with the bacon. Top with 1/2 of the soup - undiluted. Start the layers again beginning with the bacon and ending with the rest of the soup. Cook on med. heat for about 2 - 2 1/2 hours or until tender. Enjoy! A very delicious meal. The hardest part is cutting all the ingredients. When my son was at Central Jr High I would make this dish for him to take to one of his classes. Its even better reheated. Thank you Agatha Christie!
