I have a 5 month old Australian Shepherd puppy that I am very interested in honing her herding skills.

I train dogs myself, but have no experience in the herding dog arena. I've been watching Youtube videos, and reading up on the subject, but, living in town, I have no ducks or sheep to start her on. And really, I don't know how to get started in this.

I do however have access to the cattle at our stable. Knowing that she can easily be kicked and hurt from these big guys, I want to start her on something smaller.

Does anyone in Larryville train herding dogs, or know someone who does?

Thank you,

Angela

Not in Lawrence, but near McLouth on Highway 16 there are some people who raise and traing herding dogs. They have the sheep and set-up on site. The have Borders, but I bet if you got in contact with them, they could at least help you out. I will try to get in touch with the mil tonight and see if I can get a number, or at least a name for you...

Tallgrass, sorry I haven't gotten back to you, my brother is in the hospital. Mother in law isn't sure of the people's names, but if you go to Tongie and head toward McLouth, they are on the left hand side of the highway. Border silhouette on the mailbox n sheep in the yard. lol. Sorry I couldn't get a name/number 4 u.

Hey, that's ok. Thank you for letting me know. I have a lead on someone. So I'm going to check that out.

Thanks again!
