Hey it's been a year since anyone's posted, so I'm gonna stir up the pot a little bit.

IT experts or layperson, if you're currently in a union or not, do you think unionization of IT professionals would be a good thing or not?

Rather than just saying "yes" or "no", please explain your reasoning.

I live in constant fear in the up coming months of losing my job because of many issues (not because of work ethics), and wondering if a union would help protect me or not.

i suggest you keep your skills up to marketable speed, be prepared to leave anytime, look for other jobs, and finally there is some job security for civil servants......local governments and most certainly federal government-- pretty much takes and congressional action to fire you--not to be confused with a rif----
