Okay folks, here's the situation.

I have some family pictures on my 2001 iMac. The software is old enough that it can't functionally connect to the Internet and the available IE/Mozilla releases conflict with its old operating system.

The iMac does not have a CD burner.

Question: How do I get the pictures off the iMac? Will any USB sticks be able to talk to it? (It runs Mac OS 9.) Should I try to download something like Opera? Does someone have a zip drive that is compatible with Mac and Windows XP?

Let me know your thoughts please.

a USB drive should work, but make sure it's formatted on a PC already, otherwise you won't be able to copy the files to a PC.

If it doesn't, a more difficult way involves getting a Mac running OSX, and turning on AppleTalk, and Filesharing.

Then, in OS9, using the Chooser, you should be able to connect to the OSX mac's shared folder, and then copy files over to it.
