A number of things could be wrong. This is just a small list of what it could be.
Your computer could just be old.
The hard drive could be going out.
Your power supply could have a short in it.
If you recently installed a new device like another cd/dvd drive, video card, another hard drive, or disk drive, your power supply may not have enough watts to give to your entire computer.
Your hard drive could have come unplugged.
If you recently installed a new program, it could have not installed correctly, and night have changed registry in windows and windows needs to be repaired.
It's hard to determine what it could be without seeing it first hand. I fix computers for my family and friends so they don't get charged a huge amount from companies like uni or best buy. I don't charge much and don't charge anything for looking at your computer. I could take a look at it for you if you'd like.
